This template generates a definition line for Latin script symbols of any language.

This template should be added to all applicable entries written in Latin script in all languages.

As with other Wiktionary definition line templates, please do not use subst:.

Diacritical marks

Note: The categorization of Latin script diacritical marks is supposed to be the work of other templates, such as {{pt-diacritical mark}} and {{nl-diacritical mark}}, not of this template.

Parameters

Positional (unnamed) parameters:

  • |1= The language code. See WT:Languages.
  • |2= The type of definition. Use diacritic.
  • |3= and |4= The first letter with the diacritical mark.
  • |5= and |6= The second letter with the diacritical mark, if applicable.
  • |7=, |8=, |9=, |10=... Additional unnamed parameters follow the aforementioned pattern.

Named parameters:

  • |name= The name of the diacritical mark in the target language.
  • |trans= The English translation of the name of the diacritical mark.
  • |onecase= For letters that are only uppercase or lowercase. Just enter the single character into {{{3}}} and put something in this parameter.
  • |dot= If you want the final punctuation to be something other than ., put it in here.
